Navy Federal’s Global Talent Strategy

Our EVP is deeply rooted in our mission to serve our members and positively impact the communities we serve. Our employer brand emphasizes a combination of purpose, career growth and inclusive culture. Our employees are key contributors to our mission of helping military families and veterans achieve financial well-being.

Recruiting active candidates includes transparent communication and tailored content highlighting growth opportunities, mentorship programs and the strong sense of community across our organization. We build long-term relationships with passive candidates by showcasing our organization’s core values and work culture through targeted content.

We develop engagement strategies that resonate with a broad range of candidates. Through strategic partnerships, we cultivate relationships across talent communities, spanning from early career, transitioning veterans, military spouses, technology and more. We welcome the opportunity to guide and support future teammates.

By aligning our recruitment efforts with our organizational culture and values, we attract top talent and create a welcoming, dynamic work environment that fosters long-term success and satisfaction. In fact, Navy Federal team members ranked over 90 percent satisfaction in their value of work supporting our mission and brand loyalty criteria on our recent Employee Engagement Survey.

Navy Federal has a global branch network of over 360 branches worldwide, including 27 international locations. It’s important that our employer brand resonates with broad communities while staying true to Navy Federal's core values.

Our global strategy includes building strong local partnerships to understand regional workforce dynamics and leveraging local HR teams to tailor geotargeted messages that align with our overarching mission and brand. Standardized benchmarks help us maintain consistency and quality in our global recruitment process. Tech and data analytics create efficiencies and data-driven decision making.

It is essential to move quickly to secure top talent, so we leverage AI-driven candidate technology to identify highly qualified candidates. Recruitment analytics support quicker, more informed decisions by identifying the most effective sourcing channels to attract talent. Automation tools have streamlined interview scheduling, candidate communication and reduced administrative burdens on our team. These technologies supported over 5,400 hires in 2024.

Virtual recruitment is becoming an integral part of how we engage with candidates. As remote and hybrid work continues to grow, we invest in advanced virtual recruiting platforms that enable efficient, high-quality candidate interactions and provide a more inclusive and flexible experience for both candidates and recruiters. This also allows us to tap into a broader talent pool, including passive candidates who may not have otherwise considered applying.

“It is essential to move quickly to secure top talent, so we leverage AI-driven candidate technology to identify highly qualified candidates.”

We prepare our teams to adapt and thrive in this evolving environment through upskilling and continuous learning. Recruiters are trained on emerging technologies, like AI and virtual recruitment platforms, so they are equipped to use these tools effectively and focus on building relationships. Above all, we emphasize the importance and value of candidate and key stakeholder experiences through our human-centric approach.

My tips for enhancing global recruitment strategies are:

● Align talent with business goals

● Embrace technology and think long term

● Adapt to local markets

● Build an authentic employer brand

● Prioritize the candidate experience

In 2025, our top priorities revolve around several key areas that are essential to driving the success of our talent acquisition strategy and enhancing the employee experience at Navy Federal Credit Union. Our priorities focus on key stakeholder experiences, leveraging technology and digital transformation, elevating internal mobility, prioritizing employee well-being and ensuring a continued focus on transparent hiring efforts. By focusing on these priorities, we aim to create a talent acquisition ecosystem that is effective, inclusive, sustainable and aligned with the future of work.
